Mayor John Watson Term ends November 2011 Email Mayor Watson at mayor@vintoniowa.net Mayor Watson has been involved in the city government either as Mayor or Council Member for over twenty years. He has recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service. The Mayor of Vinton is a two-year position. This means that the residents of Vinton vote for the Mayor in each regular city election, which is every two years.
Ward 1 Council Member Ron Hessenius Term Ends December 2013 Council Member Hessenius has been on the Council since January 2006. He is employed as a plumber. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. The Ward 1 Council position is up for election in November 2013.
Ward 2 Council Member Ron Elwick Term Ends December 2011 Council Member Elwick has been on the Vinton City Council since 1994. He owns his own electric contractor business. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. The Ward 2 Council position is up for election in November 2011.
Ward 3 Council Member Bud Maynard Term Ends December 2013 Council Member Maynard has been on the Vinton City Council since January 2006. He is a contractor specializing in the construction of bridges. He is also a board member of the Vinton Community Foundation. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. The Ward 3Council position is up for election in November 2013.
Ward 4 Council Member Lisa Vermedahl Term Ends December 2011 Council Member Vermedahl has been on the Vinton City Council since 2001. She is a middle school math teacher in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District. She is also the chairperson of the Vinton Housing Commission. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. The Ward 4 Council position is up for election in November 2011.
At-Large Council Member Don Burkey Term Ends December 2011 Council Member Burkey has been on the Vinton City Council since 1995. He is a mechanic employed by Benton County. He also serves as a representative on the Benton Development Group and Benton County Community Foundation. He is also the Mayor Pro-tem who serves as the Mayor when the Mayor is absent. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. At-Large Council Members are elected by residents of the whole city. This at-large position Council position is up for election in November 2011
At Large Council Member Dave Redlinger Term Ends December 2013 Council Member Redlinger has been on the Vinton City Council since February 2005. He is employed by Aegon of Cedar Rapids. Council Members are elected to a four-year term on the Vinton City Council. This at-large Council position is up for election in November 2013.
