10th Street Improvements |
In
2010, the planned street improvement project financed through the Local Option
Sales tax will be improvements to West 10th Street from 1st Avenue to B Avenue.
The projects will make improvements to the street, curbs. and sidewalk ramps on
the west side of 1st Avenue, the entire intersection of A Avenue and the entire
intersection of B Avenue. The old brick manholes at the A Avenue and B Avenue
intersections will also be replaced.
Crawford Engineering from Independence recently surveyed the street and is currently (March) working on the design plans. Then the project will be put out for bids. Depending on the bids, the project will be completed as planned, or it may need to be scaled back. The City plans to spend about $170,000 a year for the street improvements including the engineering costs.
Most of the work will be done during the summer months, so expect some road closures in this area during that time.
