February 11, 2011: Last evening, the Vinton City Council approved the membership of the
Vinton Comprehensive Plan Committee.You may be wondering what a comprehensive plan looks like. Click on this link to see a sample plan from Center Point:

here. Complete the survey and deliver it to city hall or bring it to the May 3 meeting at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School. By participating in the survey, you can be entered in a drawing to win a George Foreman family-size indoor grill. On entry per household. If you mail in your survey, please print your name and phone number on a separate piece of paper no larger than 4-inches by 6-inches.June 7, 2011: The winner of the George Foreman Grill is announced. The winner was chosen from entries received after resident surveys were returned. Even though the results of the survey are being tabulated, we still want your continued input. We will have regular monthly meetings at the US Bank Community Room at 414 A Avenue. The next meeting is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 12, 2011. December 1, 2011: The committee has been meeting for several months and have a draft plan completed. A black and white version of the draft is available by clicking here. The committee will continue to meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at the US Bank Community Room located on the 400 block of A Avenue. The general public is welcomed to attend these meetings.
January 17, 2012: The Vinton Planning and Zoning Commission will be meeting at 4:30 PM to hold a public hearing to receive comments on the comprehensive plan. The Commission then will consider recommending the plan for adoption by the City Council. The public is invited to attend.
February 9, 2012: The Vinton City Council will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the comprehensive plan. The Council will then consider adopting the plan. The public is invited to attend.
